The temptation when you are in the Château de Goult is just to relax. Enjoy long breakfasts, brunches, lunches, dinners . . .full of chatter and laughter amongst friends and family. Afterwards find a quiet spot with a book, perhaps a glass of wine and let the time melt away to the chirping of the crickets. For those that choose to be more active, there are an abundance of things to do in the area that we can help organise for you. Here are a selection of some of them to get you started.
Winetasting
Goult is situated on the borders between the Luberon and Ventoux wine regions and less than an hour away from prestigous regions like Châteauneuf du Pape, Gigondas, Vacqueyras and Beaumes de Venise. You can travel around from winery to winery tasting the glorious reds, whites or rosé wines or let yourself be chauffered and guided by one of the many wine tours in the region which we can organise for you.
French Cooking Classes
Where better to learn the art of French cooking. Your local chef will take you on a visit of the local markets to learn about and select the best local produce and then teach you how to prepare the most amazing French dishes that you will enjoy with your group afterwards. A great way to both learn and enjoy a very special moment with friends and family.
Sightseeing
The Village of Goult is surrounded by a myriad of beautiful places within a short driving distance and is the perfect base to discover Provence. The most famous perched villages of the region are only 10-15 minutes drive; Gordes, Bonnieux, Minerbes, Roussillion or Lacoste for example. Avignon, St Remy de Provence and Baux de Provence are less than an hour away.
Cycling
The many quiet roads of the Luberon are a dream come true for cyclists of all levels. There are itineraries to suit from the most leisurely to the most arduous including a trip to the regular Tour de France challenge, the daunting Mount Ventoux which is about 50kms away. Don't worry about bringing your bike, we can arrange to have all types of bikes, from top of the range racing bikes to e-bikes, delivered directly to the Chateau.
Kayaking/Canoeing
The river Sorgues is just 30 minutes away and offers a beautiful setting for a 2-hour trip for all the family in a canoe or kayak. The water is cool and cristal clear and you can stop off on the way and picnic by the river-bank. A bus will pick you up at the arrival zone and bring you pack to the starting point.
Golf
There are at least 6 18-hole golf courses within approximately 1 hour driving distance from Goult including the Seve Ballesteros-designed Pont Royal which also hosts a Leadbetter golf academy. The nearest course is the Provence Country Club on the outskirts of L'Isle sur la Sorgue, just 20 minutes drive. Most courses offer the possibility to rent clubs.
Accrobranche/Tree Adventure Parks
The Luberon is the home of several accrobranche or tree adventure parks nestled in the pin trees and valleys of the region. Complete with zip-wires and bungee-jumps, the parks are set in spectacular environments surrounded by the stunning colours of the ochres from Provence. There are different types of itineraries to suit all ages from 3 years upwards.
